Biography:
J. THOMAS MCDANIEL

Responsibilities:
Oversees Boyle’s office portfolio in Nashville, which includes over 1 million SF of existing space and another 3.5 million SF in the planning and development stages. McDaniel handles Boyle’s leasing, acquisition, development and tenant representation activities for office properties.
Professional Background:
McDaniel joined Boyle shortly after the Nashville office opened in November 2001. Since joining Boyle, he has participated in hundreds of transactions totaling more than $500 million.
Prior to joining Boyle, McDaniel was a senior auditor for Ernst & Young’s New Orleans office, where he specialized in real estate, serving a variety of clients from development, management and construction companies of all property types. McDaniel’s clients ranged from large, public companies to small, entrepreneurial start-ups. Prior experience includes roles in investment banking and syndicated finance with JP Morgan and with James A. Mounger, APLC, a New Orleans real estate law firm.
McDaniel is also an adjunct professor of real estate for the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, where he has taught for the past five years.
Education:
McDaniel received a B.S. in Management from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, where he was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and was awarded the Burkenroad Award as the Freeman School’s top graduate. McDaniel received an M.B.A. from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, where he was also awarded the Dean’s Scholarship.
Professional Affiliations:
McDaniel is the incoming President of the Tennessee chapter of NAIOP. Prior to being chosen as President, Governmental Relations Chair, where he initiated the establishment of the Nashville NAIOP Political Action Committee. McDaniel also served for two years as the NAIOP Program Chair. He was a 2007 recipient of the NAIOP Developing Leaders Award. McDaniel is a former Board member of the Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce.
McDaniel a licensed affiliate broker or real estate and worked previously Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Civic & Community Involvement:
McDaniel serves as an adjunct professor at the prestigious Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. He serves as a member of the Allocation Committee of the Williamson County United Way. He is involved in the Boys & Girls Club of Williamson County and New Hope Academy through Boyle’s not-for-profit alliances. He is a member of the Cathedral of the Incarnation church.
Hobbies:
McDaniel is married to Kristen, with whom he has two children, Jack and Claire. He enjoys eating (Cajun food, especially) and stock-picking. He dislikes running, but does a lot of it, having run at least 15 half-marathons and will compete in the 2009 New York Marathon. McDaniel plays competitive sports, including tennis, softball and golf. He enjoys renovating old homes. And he supports LSU athletics – Geaux Tigers!
