Biography:
Michael Burcham is President of ParadigmHealth, a Specialty Care & Disease Management Firm based in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. ParadigmHealth is an integrator of care and disease management services for its health plan and employer clients. The company's care management services and innovative technologies work in concert to improve quality and lower costs by matching health care management resources with the individual needs of patients and their families. ParadigmHealth's care management programs focus on the management of premature and medically complex neonates and patients with late-stage cancer, end-of-life care issues, multiple co-morbidities, and multiple trauma. Its innovative technology tools, including ParadigmHealth's Personal Health Record technology and Disease Management technology platform, integrate clients' delivery of services to their members and providers. Prior to joining ParadigmHealth, Michael was President of Theraphysics, a venture-backed, specialty rehabilitation firm he founded in 1992. Prior to Theraphysics, Burcham worked for HCA as Vice President of Managed Care. Michael received his undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Belmont University, Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his Doctoral Degree in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina. Burcham teaches Health Innovation in the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University and provides strategic consulting to a variety of healthcare firms and venture funds involved in healthcare start-ups. Michael has numerous publications and is a frequent National speaker on healthcare strategy and entrepreneurial thinking in healthcare.
