Perfect Fit for a Family
"My husband and I both came to Vanderbilt – he is a Fellow in the Pediatric Gastroenterology area and I am an Owen student. When I visited Owen, I sat in on Dean Bradford’s Strategy class and was impressed with the dynamic interaction between the students and the professor. Owen was a great cultural fit for me. It was a dual career decision that was perfect for my family." | | | CAROLINE BREYLEY MBA Class of ’06
Access to all Vanderbilt Classes
"Owen students can formulate their own dynamic curriculum, leveraging other graduate programs such as Vanderbilt Law, Divinity, and Medical Schools. And the Mod system better prepares us for summer internships in a particular field by allowing us to take more classes, sooner." | | | HARVEY BROWN MBA Class of ’06
Career Management Center Delivers ROI
"I came to Owen for its world-renowned community atmosphere, but I am getting my ROI from the strength of the Career Management Center. The CMC begins preparing students for internship interviewing as early as the summer before the students’ first semester, and Owen’s modular curriculum lets you complete core courses nearly a semester sooner than at other top schools. Because of the mod system and the CMC’s zeal to prepare us quickly and thoroughly, I was able to be more grounded and well prepared for the many interviews I had at the 2004 National Black MBA Conference in Texas. As a result, I landed my ConAgra Foods internship." | | | JEFF ERVIN MBA Class of ’06/Finance
A Customized MBA Education
“Owen offers a diverse curriculum. I have been able to customize my coursework to incorporate studying abroad and writing a business plan for a local startup company along with traditional MBA classes. Faculty are passionate about research and anxious to educate students with their observations. And, Vanderbilt’s positive reputation provides a backdrop for visits from business leaders, foreign dignitaries, and politicians.” | | | JERRY TSENG MBA Class of ’06/Finance
Solid Preparation for the Summer Internship
"For my summer internship, I worked with ten other interns from top B-schools in delivering a challenging project at Citi Cards in New York. I have been able to apply what I learned in the classroom and develop solutions for various scenarios against appropriate baseline cases in a systematic fashion. My group mentor was very pleased with the financial model I co-developed with another intern. I have to credit Owen for preparing me for my internship through cases, classroom interaction, and real client consulting in my first year. At Owen, we not only learn to think critically as leaders when working through cases, but also learn to deliver!" | | |
