Doctoral students are likely to take courses from, and may also work individually with, faculty in a number of other departments at Vanderbilt University. Indeed, our PhD Program is significantly complemented by the frequent and collegial interaction among faculty and graduate students across the traditional lines of departments and schools. Such interaction is a hallmark of graduate education at Vanderbilt.
Research and teaching in areas related to Organization Studies also take place in various departments of the College of Arts and Sciences (especially Sociology and Psychology) as well as in the Peabody College of Education and Human Development (which includes a Department of Leadership Policy and Organizations, and a Department of Psychology and Human Development). A partial list of such faculty includes:
- Karen E. Campbell, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology (College of Arts and Sciences)
- Daniel B. Cornfield, Professor of Sociology and Chair, Department of Sociology (College of Arts and Sciences)
- William P. Smith, Professor, Department of Psychology (College of Arts and Sciences)
- Peggy A. Thoits, Professor, Department of Sociology (College of Arts and Sciences)
